| Ontonagon Herald Ontonagon Theatre August 27, 2008 Magic Show enthralls audience By Harold S. Riter, (Reporter) Those who trekked to the Ontonagon Theater of Performing arts Last Wednesday evening August 27th, were treated to one of the best magic shows around, J.T Stafford and his vivacious assistant, Natasha, presented a evening of magic and illusion that brought exclamations of awe This magical duo presented a program at the Ontonagon Theater of Performing Arts a year ago captivating the audience at that time . Last Wednesday's performance was no exception. The Great Stafford's skill and showmanship were evident throughout the show. Stafford is an entertainer, and keeps the show moving, His young lady adds flavor... her facial expressions, body language, and pleasant personality present her, at times, as the victim of the Svengali magician, and at other times, more as his equal. She is the main distraction as Stafford works his slight-of-hand. |
Speaking of Natasha, she is introduced into the act from a mysterious glass box.."abracadabra" and she appears! From that point on it is none stop magic and illusions Early in the show, a burning fireband is passed through the assistant's forearm. For all her suffering Natasha is presented with a large bouquet of flowers, also conjured up out of nowhere The old rabbit out of the hat trick is modified slightly, when a young lady from the audience was called to the stage to assist in bringing forth "Snickers" a large white rabbit from the land of Mystery Natasha emerged unscathed from a basket which had become a pincushion of no fewer then eight swords, and an experiment in levitation also went off smoothly, to the amazement of the audience Stafford is also a master of the rings and does card tricks as well The disappearing-reappearing egg Trick was successful with the help of another volunteer from the audience |
The final illusion was a variation of the classic sawing the
lady in half done on vaudeville stages by generations of magicians. Not only
did Natasha survive this ordeal, but she had changed costumes in the process The final trick was to produce a U.S. Flag from a conglomeration of red, white, and blue scarves A act is something different for our local stage . The Ontonagon Theater for Performing Arts has had a very active and busy summer presenting some of the widest variety of entertainment
Highly Recommended and a Must See
